As I picked up Please Don’t Lie: A Thriller, co-authored by the talented Christina Baker Kline and Anne Burt, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of intrigue that the premise stirred in me. The prospect of a fresh start in the serene beauty of the Adirondacks mixed with dark secrets was just too enticing to resist. Having followed Kline’s work for years, I was excited to see how she and Burt would weave a tale that contrasts escapism with the suffocating grip of the past.
The story follows Hayley Stone, a young woman trying to leave behind a tragic past marked by loss and the relentless scrutiny of the media.
